Borg Collective
In a parallel universe, the Borg Collective was the hive mind and governing power of the Borg. (COMIC: Assimilation²)

As observed by Starfleet and the Eleventh Doctor, drones were so caught up in the internal Borg Collective consciousness that potential intruders scarcely mattered to them; though they may well have been aware of their presence they would be considered as inconsequential and not worth the Borg's time, allowing them to "slip under the radar" providing they did not interfere with the assigned duties of the Borg drones. Collective organisation[[edit] | edit source]
As the Eleventh Doctor observed, the Borg Collective operated by suppressing the individual identities and free will of Borg drones, with everything revolving around the needs of the hive mind. As a result, the process of assimilation limited the Borg's ability to have individual emotions.
In one case, the Borg renamed an assimilated human, Jean-Luc Picard, to Locutus of Borg, as they intended for him to facilitate the surrender of the United Federation of Planets. Even after Picard was freed from the Collective, the Borg continued to refer to him as Locutus. (COMIC: Assimilation²)

Borg drones very seldom broke free from the Borg Collective. One notable example was Jean-Luc Picard, who was assisted by Data. The Collective so effectively manipulated the decision-making and pleasure centres of the brain that those assimilated could not want to leave, opting to fight or die first. The Doctor characterised this as "slavery from the inside" and a "most devious form of bondage". (COMIC: Assimilation²)
