Beginning in 2018, various webcasts were released under the title Case Files by BBC and BBV Productions.
Yaz's Case Files
Yaz's Case Files[1][2][3] was a series of webcasts released on the Doctor Who website in 2018 and 2019 to tie in with Doctor Who series 11. The episodes were scripted by Jacqueline Rayner.[4]
Each webcast was a mini-recap of the accompanying episode from Yasmin Khan's perspective. Unlike previous short-form programming, such as Tardisodes and prequels, the Case Files were not new narratives and contained little information that wasn't already obvious to the viewer of the main episode. They were more similar to
The series was similar in format to Monster Files, seen during the late RTD/early Moffat era. It also shared some commonality with Sarah Jane's Alien Files that was released with The Sarah Jane Adventures for a time — although that series had more content that was not seen in the accompanying episode.
For unknown reasons, whenever an image of the Thirteenth Doctor is displayed in these episodes, her sonic screwdriver is shown with a pink light.
P.R.O.B.E. Case Files
In 2021, following the revival of the P.R.O.B.E. series by Arcbeatle Press, BBV Productions released two series of P.R.O.B.E. Case Files. While the first six were released on the BBV Productions Youtube channel, beginning with Goo! each release was available for purchase on the BBV website as a home video. These notably included crossovers with other BBV series, such as Faction Paradox and Cyberon.
