Elizabeth Holub
Professor Elizabeth Holub was the granddaughter of Liz Shaw.

Elizabeth's father was Simon, Liz's son by a previous relationship (HOMEVID: Sherwood Sorceress [+]Loading...["Sherwood Sorceress (home video)"]) predating her marriage to Patricia Haggard. (HOMEVID: When to Die [+]Loading...["When to Die (home video)"], etc.) As a child, she lived in Cambridge with her mother and father.
On 9 January 2021, she was captured by the two hypnotised goons of the Sherwood Sorceress, a malevolent magic user whom Liz had foiled thirty years prior as part of her work at P.R.O.B.E.. The Sorceress, who knew a spell allowing her to drain children's life force to keep herself young, intended to get revenge on Liz by making Elizabeth the first victim of a renewed spree of occult murders to regain her lost youth. However, while the Sorceress's goons drove her on the M1 from Cambridge to Nottingham, Liz called on her successor as P.R.O.B.E. director, Giles, to use P.R.O.B.E.'s resources to track her down. Though miffed that this was the first he was hearing of Liz having a granddaughter, he naturally agreed, and with his and Maxie Masters's help, they were able to realise where Elizabeth was being taken, from which it was easy for Liz to deduce that the vengeful Sorceress was to blame.
When they arrived at the Sorceress's stone circle in Sherwood Forest, Giles and Liz found Elizabeth gagged and tied to a wooden pole in the middle of the circle, with everything ready for the ritual to begin. However, noticing their approach, the Sorceress could not resist gloating to her old enemy, giving Giles time to make a run for the pole and partially untie Elizabeth. Though he began to be pummeled by the goons for his trouble, this was enough for Elizabeth to free herself completely; picking up a wooden log, she whacked one of the goons. Although this did not knock him out altogether, it provided a useful distraction, allowing Giles to get the upper hand on the other goon while Liz tackled the Sorceress herself and deprived her of the grimoire in which all her magic was bound up, reducing her to a helpless crone. After delivering the Sorceress into the custody of the police, Giles and Liz drove Elizabeth back to Cambridge, where Liz elected to stick around with her family for a bit while Giles returned to London. At some point, Liz told a young Elizabeth about the Doctor, instructing her to get in touch with them if she was ever in dire trouble. (PROSE: Fable Fusion [+]Loading...["Fable Fusion (short story)"])

By 2050, she was a scientist living in Prague where she performed experiments with cold fusion with the aim of finding an inexpensive way to provide electricity. After disturbances around the city's Jewish district, Holub sent a distress call to the Doctor that was answered by the Seventh Doctor and Ace.
