Manu was a man who was the lover of Maurice Le Bon. He died prior to 1946, leaving Maurice stricken with grief. Maurice took it upon himself to continue paying the rent of Manu's flat so he could return to it untouched at any time he wanted.

Maurice led the Ninth Doctor, Artie Berger, and Zazie Vincent to Manu's flat as a place of sanctuary while escaping from a sound creature. Maurice took the opportunity to use Manu's gramophone to play his favourite record one final time as he sacrificed himself to hold back the creature. (AUDIO: Fright Motif)
