Artie Berger
Arthur "Artie" Berger was an American musician who lived in Paris in 1946 after the death of his mother.
As an African-American man, Artie left the USA after World War II so he could continue his career without discrimination. He acted as a traditional piano player at the Hôtel Le Prestige and also played jazz music at La Cave with his friend Zazie Vincent at nights. However, he experienced considerable grief after his mother died and was buried without him being able to see her. This caused him to attract an interdimensional sound creature who used him as a conduit to attack music, giving him severe sensitivity to sound and the loss of his skills.
In December 1946, Artie found himself having lost his musicality due to the creature and teamed up with the Ninth Doctor, Zazie, and his boss Maurice Le Bon to uncover it. After chasing the creature across Paris, Artie and Zazie attracted it to La Cave, allowing the Doctor to create an echo chamber from a bottle and capture it. With this, Artie promised to continue playing his music as he dealt with his grief. (AUDIO: Fright Motif)
He produced at least one record "Artie Berger Likes to Swing." George Mortimer received it as a gift for his 21st birthday. He played the record during a family gathering around Easter 1963 (AUDIO: "The Bird from the Nest")
