Overview

Reality

Amy had lived there for most of her life after she moved to there from Scotland. Leadworth had no airport and no nuclear power station (not even a little one). Leadworth has a Post Office, a Parish Church, a hospital, a Fire Station, a village green with a duckless duck pond and a public phone box. It's half an hour by car from the nearest city, Gloucester.

In Easter of 1996, a mysterious crack in time opened in Leadworth, linking it to a prison ship and allowing Prisoner Zero to escape into the small village.

In 2008, the village became victim to a small-scale invasion in which the Atraxi came here looking for Prisoner Zero. The Eleventh Doctor later defeated the latter and ordered that the Atraxi leave.(DW: The Eleventh Hour)

Dream

In a dream version of Leadworth created by the Dream Lord, by 2015, Leadworth had expanded into Upper Leadworth, an area home to many pensioners. (DW: Amy's Choice).

Behind the Scenes

Leadworth scenes are actually filmed at Llandaff in Cardiff, about 1/2 mile away from the main BBC Wales building. However, the Upper Leadworth scenes in Amy's Choice were filmed in the South East Wales village of Skenfrith. The name is an anagram of "Late Dr. Who" (or "Dr. Who Tale"), though it's unknown if this was intentional.
