Matt Crane was a technician at Torchwood 1, where he worked on the free energy project with Adeola Oshodi.
Biography
Crane was lured by Adeola over to the work area where he was cybernetically altered by Cybermen who were able to slip through the Void through a breach in space-time. His upgrade was internal, through an EarPod linked with connective tissue directly to his brain. He was killed definitively when his earpieces were overloaded by a signal from the Tenth Doctor.
