Publisher's summary
The story of a brand new adventure for the Doctor, as played by David Tennant in the hit BBC One series. The TARDIS arrives in an 18th Century village in the Yorkshire Moors, where livestock has been vanishing from the farmland and strange lights have been seen in the skies. Something is very wrong here, and he soon becomes involved in a nightmarish adventure, in which he is helped by a young local woman named Charity. Who is feeding on the blood of the locals, and where will the carnage stop...? This story has been written by Scott Handcock exclusively for BBC Audiobooks

- The story is also available as a download from the AudioGo website.
Continuity
- The Doctor recalls the events of DW: Journey's End, specifically having to erase Donna Noble's memory and leave her in the care of Wilfred Mott and Sylvia Noble.
Timeline
- The Rising Night occurs after NSA: The Slitheen Excursion
- The Rising Night occurs before NSA: Prisoner of the Daleks
