Publisher's summary
During one of Nyssa’s experiments, the TARDIS’s temporal scanner picks up a message: ‘Idra’. Just one word, but enough to draw the Doctor to the Archipelago of Sirius.
There, the Autarch is about to announce a new crusade. A mighty war against Seth, Prince of the Dark...
But who is Seth? What is the secret of Queen Anahita, Mistress of the Poisons? And what terror awaits on Level 14?

References
- Tegan describes herself as "a fully paid up Aussie republican" and "downright Bolshie."
- The Doctor previously visited Sirius during one of his first four incarnations. On that occasion, he met Queen Anahita, who was then a student activist using her real name Idra. This encounter occurred forty-three years earlier in Anahita's personal timeline.
- Per the Doctor's instructions, Shamur uses the Fast Return Switch to return the TARDIS to Sirius. It is clearly labelled on the TARDIS console in pencil.
Notes
- Honor Blackman (Queen Anahita) previously played Professor Lasky in TV: Terror of the Vervoids.
- David Warner (Autarch Siris) previously played the Doctor in NOTDWU: Sympathy for the Devil and NOTDWU: Masters of War, Sir Isaac Newton in AUDIO: Summer, Coordinator Angell in AUDIO: Empathy Games, Mycroft Holmes in AUDIO: The Adventure of the Diogenes Damsel, Lord Azlok in TV: Dreamland and Professor Boston Schooner in AUDIO: Deimos.
- Vernon Dobtcheff (Shamur) previously played the War Lord scientist in TV: The War Games, Dadda Desaka in AUDIO: The Crade of the Snake and Dr. Sibelius Crow in AUDIO: The Necropolis Express. He would later play Professor Heinrich Schumann in AUDIO: Threshold.
- Adrian Lukis (Byzan) previously played Enforcement Officer Bragg in AUDIO: Cobwebs and Professor Jeffrey Broderick in AUDIO: Artificial Intelligence.
- The images of Honor Blackman and David Warner used on the CD cover do not accurately reflect the descriptions of their characters' appearances as given in the audio drama. Queen Anahita is said to have been noticeably disfigured by fire many years earlier whereas Autarch Siris makes several references to his beard.
- This audio drama was recorded on 10 and 11 January 2011.
Continuity
- The Doctor believes that the TARDIS team's recent visit to Luparis had a therapeutic effect on Nyssa (AUDIO: Hexagora) following her brainwashing at the hands of the Elite on Florana (AUDIO: The Elite).
- Tegan does not regret her decision to remain in the TARDIS as opposed to returning to Brisbane, Australia in 1983 with her former boyfriend Mike Bretherton. (AUDIO: Hexagora)
