Mike Bretherton was the neighbour of Tegan Jovanka when she lived in Brisbane, Australia. They went to high school together. Mike had fallen in love with Tegan, though Tegan was unaware of his feelings. He was an investigative journalist. He went missing and Tegan asked the Fifth Doctor to look for him.
