Romana and her comrades find themselves in the dank and grubby wastelands of northern Gallifrey, trapped between two forces in a long and ancient war.

• The founders of the True Lord Society are Omega, Theta and Zagreus.
• When predicting the future, Cassandra quotes the Gallifreyan nursery rhyme, which in the N-Space refers to Zagreus, instead in this Gallifrey the first lines are "Lord Prydon sits inside your head, Lord Prydon lives among the dead..."

• Katy Manning (Magistrix Borusa) is better known for her roles as the Third Doctor's companion Jo Grant and the renegade Time Lady Iris Wildthyme.
• Geoffrey Beevers (Lord Prydon) previously played Private Johnson in TV: The Ambassadors of Death and the Master in TV: The Keeper of Traken, AUDIO: Dust Breeding and AUDIO: Master. He would later play the Master once again in AUDIO: Trail of the White Worm and AUDIO: The Oseidon Adventure.
• This is the only audio drama in the fourth series of Gallifrey not to feature alternative versions of either Romana or Vansell.

Continuity

• Leela regains her eyesight, which she lost in AUDIO: Fractures.
• Romana is unimpressed by the vampires, having previously encountered the Great Vampire. (TV: State of Decay)
