Adelaide was a companion of the the Doctor. She was head of a Mars base that came under seige by a some kind of water based entity. (DW: The Waters of Mars)

- On 19 February 2009, the BBC announced that Lindsay Duncan would play Adelaide in the second of the Doctor Who specials that will be aired in 2009. She has been stated to be playing "the Doctor's most strong-minded companion yet."[1]
- As with Michelle Ryan's character, Christina de Souza, who appears in the Planet of the Dead special, it has not yet been announced whether Adelaide is intended to be a one-off companion along the lines of Astrid Peth or (initially) Donna Noble or if she will appear in more of the specials or continue on into the Matt Smith era.
