The Melody Malone Mysteries (PROSE: The Ruby's Curse) was a series of books written by River Song (TV: The Angels Take Manhattan, PROSE: The Ruby's Curse) and her mother, Amy Pond. (PROSE: The Ruby's Curse, WC: Rory's Story)

The first of these books, Melody Malone: Private Detective in Old New York Town, was written by River, and was closely based on facts, being a record of Amy and Rory's last adventure with the Eleventh Doctor before they were catapulted back in time by the Weeping Angels; the central character of Melody Malone was revealed to be none other than River herself. It included an afterword was later written by Amy, under the name of Amelia Williams. (TV: The Angels Take Manhattan)

Much to the surprise of River, who had only ever intended for the Doctor to read it, the book proved a hit amongst 1930s readers. Her publishers wanted more, and River was commissioned to write a prequel, which she called The Angel's Kiss.

In the wake of its continued popularity, as well as the need to help her parents subsist in their newfound home of the 1930s, River began to write a third Melody Malone book in 1939. She retreated to her old cell in Stormcage Containment Facility in 5147 for a quiet place to write. However due to River entering the story to retrieve a reality-altering weapon, the Eye of Horus, hidden there by Ventrion The Ruby's Curse was rewritten to he an accurate account of River's adventure. As this would expose her parents as time travellers, River and Amy agreed the book wouldn’t be published until the early 2020s. (PROSE: The Ruby's Curse)

After the incident with the Eye of Horus, Amy decided to accelerate her plans of taking over the book series, as River was now too close to Melody to really write her. (PROSE: The Ruby's Curse) Indeed, by 1946, Amy had written further books for the series. (WC: Rory's Story)

One Melody Malone book that was published was Heart of Stone. "Some" attributed the origin of the stories of the Weeping Angels to it. (PROSE: The Secret Lives of Monsters)
