Torchwood Two was one of the Torchwood Institute's four main branches based in Glasgow. (PROSE: The Twilight Streets) It was run by Archie Bell, (AUDIO: Regrets) known as “Old Tartan Archie”. (PROSE: The Twilight Streets)
Though by 2016, all branches of Torchwood were believed inactive due to unfortunate events, (AUDIO: More Than This) Archie was still running Torchwood in Glasgow in 2023. (AUDIO: Apex)
History
Torchwood Two was formed by Archie, who chose to leave Torchwood One to form a new branch in Glasgow. (AUDIO: The Torchwood Archive)
Torchwood Two shipped Alice Guppy over to Torchwood Three as they didn't know what to do with her. (PROSE: Risk Assessment)
In the 2000s Torchwood Two was located near the waterfront development on the River Clyde. (PROSE: The Twilight Streets) The branch was well-connected to Torchwood Three, since they contacted Captain Jack Harkness to come to Scotland in connection with a number of deaths in a pub. Torchwood Two appeared to have closed down prior to 2009, as Agnes Havisham claimed that Torchwood Three was the last remaining branch, with Torchwood One and Four having been destroyed. However in 2023 Archie was still working for Torchwood in Glasgow, now operating out of a sound studio. Torchwood’s facilities in Glasgow were targeted by a thief, (AUDIO: Apex) Apex Costa, (AUDIO: Reboot) During the thefts an alien shapeshifter was released, which attacked Archie and hid in his throat. Archie was found unconscious in a Lidl and taken to hospital. (AUDIO: Apex) Apex supplied the stolen Torchwood technology to Honour Bray, who used it to create the Cobot. (AUDIO: Reboot) At this time two members of The Blue Box Files, Abby McPhail and Shawna Thompson, began looking into Torchwood and visited Archie in hospital, causing the alien to leave his body to attack them. They stole Archie’s keys in the confusion and subsequently visited Torchwood’s sound studio base. (AUDIO Apex) A library card there led them to another Torchwood facility in a library, where they encountered the shapeshifter again. (AUDIO: Underground)
Behind the scenes
The implication of Jack's televised line, "Torchwood Two is an office in Glasgow; very strange man", is that that office is comprised of a single individual. However the reference in COMIC: The Selkie offers no such implication. There, he says that he was simply "contacted by Torchwood Glasgow" and makes no mention of any individuals.
