The Ultimate Guide was a special documentary by the Doctor Who Confidential production team broadcast before The Parting of the Ways.

Like its precursor, Doctor Who: A New Dimension, The Ultimate Guide was broadcast on BBC One prior to its related episode rather than on BBC Three after it. This special was not shown under the Doctor Who Confidential banner, though it has been generally considered an episode of the series due to the presence of Confidential's production team as well as then-narrator Simon Pegg.

The Parting of the Ways was followed by its own standard Confidential episode, The Last Battle.
