Auteur was the title given to a Faction Paradox spin-off produced by Aristide Twain and Jayce Black.

History

On 14 December 2020, Twain announced on his blog that an Auteur comic would debut the next year.[1] It would have featured titular character Auteur as well as other characters and settings from Jayce Black's short story A Bloody (And Public) Domaine, a Faction Paradox short story in The Book of the Enemy. It would have been a direct continuation of the 2020 The Crew of the Copper-Colored Cupids crossover event.

Jayce Black's delightfully insane creation has been bouncing around the uncharted edges of the Doctor Who Multiverse long enough that guest-star status in other people's stories no longer satisfies him. Greedy old bag of bones that he is. Thus, because he demanded it (although it's not yet clear whether anybody else did), it is my immense privilege to announce Auteur — an original DWU comic spin-off starring the Skull-Man of the Shadow Spire himself, as well as his long-suffering sidekick Gideon! Coming in 2021.Aristide Twain[1]

In August 2021, Twain announced that the series was "still very much in production" but would not be released in 2021.[2]

On 28 October 2023, Twain announced that the series was not, in fact, cancelled (in reference to this article's talk page), that the first instalment would be released a few days after, that it would coincide with the first instalment of the Coloth series[3], in the Arcbeatle Press anthology Horrors of Arcbeatle Press.[4]
