Lord Mayor of Cardiff Margaret Blaine was aware of the "notorious divide" between North and South Wales, joking in September 2006 that she had no desire to re-open it in light of Blaidd Drwg. She did point out that, although Trawsfynydd had been mothballed, North Wales still had Wylfa, so a nuclear power station in Cardiff would "[make] the score one-all!" (PROSE: The Western Mail, TV: Boom Town) Mr Cleaver found that a meltdown at Blaidd Drwg would have taken most of South Wales with it. (PROSE: Doctor Who: The Encyclopedia [+]Loading...["Doctor Who: The Encyclopedia (reference book)"]) Blon found herself echoing Welsh complaints when she claimed that the entire South Wales coast could fall into the sea and London would not notice. (TV: Boom Town)
South Wales Mail was a South Wales newspaper. (TV: Out of Time)
When the Daleks transported Earth (along with 26 other planets) to the Medusa Cascade, it caused an earthquake-like effect on the entire planet. In the Torchwood Hub, Gwen Cooper stated that the whole of South Wales must have felt that, but Ianto Jones discovered the true extent, remarking, "Little bit bigger than South Wales..." (TV: The Stolen Earth)
In the 2010s, South Wales was targeted by a tsunami caused by the Committee, who manipulated Norton Folgate and Yvonne Hartman from Pete's World. Tyler Steele managed to convince Yvonne to try to stop the crisis, which she managed to do for Newport but not for Cardiff. (AUDIO: Eye of the Storm)
