• The John Menzies newsagent chain publishes REF: Doctor Who Quiz Book, by Doctor Who Magazine editor John Freeman, as a promotional giveaway item.
• 20 - NA: Conundrum is first published.

February

• 17 - NA: No Future is first published. This novel concludes the five-part Alternate Universe arc.

March

• Target Books republishes DWN: Doctor Who and the Talons of Weng-Chiang with new cover art and a slightly revised title (now Doctor Who - The Talons of Weng-Chiang). This was the last reissue of this nature by Target, ending a program it began in 1990.
• 17 - NA: Tragedy Day is first published.
  • VD: Decalog is first published by Virgin Publishing. Discounting the Annuals, this is the first professionally published and licenced Doctor Who short story collection. It will be followed by four more volumes (of decreasing relevance to Doctor Who) over the next 3 years and later be succeeded by the ST: Short Trips series of books.

April

• 16 - Frank Wylie (Ruther in DW: Castrovalva) dies.
• 21 - NA: Legacy is first published.
  • DWN: Doctor Who - The Paradise of Death is first published. This was the 156th and final release of a novelisation under the Target Books banner and the last of three "deluxe format" novelisations. This brings to a close a series of books dating back nearly 21 years. Target's owner, Virgin, would publish two more novelisations based upon a radio play and an independent film production under the Virgin Missing Adventures banner, and an additional novelisation of an independent film under the Virgin New Adventures banner.

May

• 19 - NA: Theatre of War is first published.

June

• 16 - NA: All-Consuming Fire is first published.
  • A third edition of REF: The Doctor Who Programme Guide is published by Virgin Publishing.
  • Eileen Way, who portrayed the Old Mother in DW: An Unearthly Child and Karela in DW: The Creature from the Pit, dies in Canterbury, England.

July

• 09 - BBCR: Whatever Happened to Susan Foreman? is broadcast on BBC Radio 4.
• 15 - After a year's hiatus, Titan Books revives its Doctor Who: The Scripts series once more by publishing the teleplay for DW: Galaxy 4.
• 21 - NA: Blood Harvest is first published. This book ties in with the first installment of the Virgin Missing Adventures line; see below.
  • MA: Goth Opera is first published, launching the Virgin Missing Adventures book line, a spin-off of the New Adventures line focusing on the first six Doctors. On several occasions MA and NA books would be linked, as was the case with NA: Blood Harvest (featuring the Seventh Doctor) and Goth Opera (featuring the Fifth Doctor; this is the first original novel for the Fifth Doctor).
• 28 - Doctor Who Yearbook 1995 is published.

August

• REF: Doctor Who: Timeframe is published in paperback
• 11 - Peter Cushing, who played Dr. Who in the two 1960s motion pictures, dies from prostate cancer in Canterbury, England.
• 18 - NA: Strange England is first published.
• 26 - Tariq Yunus, who played Cass in DW: The Robots of Death, dies in Bombay, India.

September

• 02 - Roy Castle, who played the film version of Ian Chesterton, dies.
• 15 - NA: First Frontier is first published.
  • MA: Evolution is first published. First original novel featuring the Fourth Doctor.

October

• 06 - Doctor Who: The Age of Chaos first published by Marvel Comics UK. This was the first wholly original Doctor Who graphic novel ever published, and the first (and as of 2009, only) comic story written by one of the lead actors, Colin Baker. It is primarily available in the UK, with very limited distribution in North America.
• 20 - NA: St Anthony's Fire is first published.
  • MA: Venusian Lullaby is first published. First full-length original First Doctor novel.

November

• 03 - REF: Doctor Who: The Seventies is first published.
• 17 - NA: Falls the Shadow is first published.
  • MA: The Crystal Bucephalus is first published.
  • REF: Doctor Who - The Handbook: The First Doctor is first published.
  • The final release by Titan Books under its Doctor Who: The Scripts line, the script for The Crusade, is published. Although Titan plans to publish at least two more script books, the line, which started in 1988, is discontinued after this release. The next publication of TV scripts would not occur until a decade later when BBC Books would publish a collection of scripts from Season 12.
• 20 - John Lucarotti, who wrote DW: Marco Polo, DW: The Aztecs and DW: The Massacre of St Bartholomew's Eve, dies.

December

• 01 - NA: Parasite is first published.
  • MA: State of Change is first published. First original Sixth Doctor novel if one doesn't count the Target Missing Adventures novelisations.
• 06 - This date marks the 5th anniversary of the broadcast of DW: Survival Episode 3, the final episode of the 1963-89 series. Fan hopes remain high that a new series or a movie may eventually be commissioned.

• Stephen Dartnell, who played Yartek in DW: The Keys of Marinus and John in DW: The Sensorites, dies.
• Silva Screen Records releases the soundtrack compilation The Worlds of Doctor Who, which includes a newly recorded performance of the Doctor Who theme performed by Sylvester McCoy on the spoons!
