Supreme Daleks were the leaders of the New Dalek Paradigm. They could be identified by their white casings with metalic grey globes.

Biography

After the War in the Medusa Cascade, all Dalek saucers were destroyed, save one. This lone saucer fell back in time to World War Two. The three Daleks remaining onboard discovered a progenitor device which held pure Dalek DNA that could be used to rebuild their empire. The progenitor did not recognise them as pure Daleks because their DNA was created from cells of Davros' body.

The Eleventh Doctor faces the new legion of Daleks. (DW: Victory of the Daleks

The Daleks set a trap for the Doctor, tricking him into identifying them as Daleks. Using his "testimony" they activated the progenitor. The result was the creation of a new Dalek paradigm. They had a bulkier, hunched casing, a new eyepiece, a new-shaped dome, a neck section consisting of four flared rings, a thicker midsection and bumper and a powerful laser which could disintegrate enemies, including other Daleks. The colour of the casing varied according to role/rank. The white was the supreme, the orange the scientist, the blue the Strategist, the yellow the eternal and the red the drone. They destroyed their predecessors and tried to destroy The Earth using an Oblivion Continuum inside their android, Edwin Bracewell. (DW: Victory of the Daleks)

When the Doctor travelled back in time to Kaalann to stop the Daleks rebuilding their empire and invading Earth, a squad of Daleks led by a Supreme, possibly the same as the first one, arrived. The Doctor erased their alterations and the Supreme Dalek, along with the rest of its squad, was destroyed. (VG: City of the Daleks)

A Supreme Dalek led the Daleks on their attempted take-overs of the SS Lucy Grey in their efforts to recover their lost Time Axis. The Daleks, including the Supreme Dalek, were destroyed when their ship was sent into the sun. (VG: Doctor Who: Evacuation Earth, Return to Earth)

The Daleks, led by a Supreme, joined The Alliance to imprison The Eleventh Doctor in the Pandorica to save the Universe. They arrived at Stonehenge, 102 A.D. with the rest of the Alliance and locked the Doctor in the Pandorica. (DW: The Pandorica Opens)

The Alliance failed to save the universe. Manyl races, including the Daleks, were wiped from existence, leaving only stone "after-images". When the Doctor reset the universe and timeline, the Daleks were restored to their original form and place in spacetime. (DW: The Big Bang)

Searching for information on the Silence and why they wanted him dead, the Doctor found a badly damaged Supreme Dalek and looked up information on the Silence from it. (DW: The Wedding of River Song) Through this he learned that the Tesselecta had infiltrated the Silence, posing as one of their humanoid agents. Its eye stalk was taken for bartering leverage.

Behind the scenes

  • The Supreme Dalek's colour scheme is a reversal of the original series' Supreme Daleks, who were black with white bumps.
  • The Supreme Dalek in Victory of the Daleks has a deep voice like that of the Dalek Emperor, (DW: The Parting of the Ways), and the Red Supreme Dalek, (DW: The Stolen Earth/Journey's End). This, however, is dropped in The Pandorica Opens.
  • The Supreme Dalek made an appearance in two Christmas adverts on BBC. One had the Dalek leader gliding across the screen with a shopping bag hanging from the manipulator arm. The other involved the Dalek booking into an airport for a flight back to Skaro - noted to be near Mechanus. These were also considered promos for the BBC's new comedy series "Come Fly With Me" as the show was set in the airport and two of the characters made an appearance in one of the Dalek's adverts.
