I shall never die! The thought of me is forever, in the bleeding hearts of men, in their vanity and obsessions and lust! Nothing shall ever destroy me! Nothing! The Beast. [The Satan Pit [src]]

The Beast was a colossal demon imprisoned in the heart of planet Krop Tor. He said that he had many names, including Satan, and claimed to be the essence of all Devil-like figures in religion and myth. He also claimed to have been imprisoned since before the universe. The beast said that Rose Tyler would die in battle, but she didn't recently so the Doctor said that he lied, but we see that he didn't because Rose went to a parallel world but in the world that Rose is really from she was on the list of the dead.

Characteristics

Physical form

You will die; and I shall live. The Beast. [The Satan Pit [src]]

When the Doctor encountered him, the Beast resembled a gargantuan crimson horned figure with a corpse-like face, bound by giant chains. While possessed by the Beast, its hosts had eyes with crimson irises.

Powers and abilities

I am the sin; and the temptation: and the desire. I am the pain and the loss. The Beast. [The Impossible Planet [src]]

The Beast could manifest himself through electronic media, including computer voices and, crudely through hologram viewers. Its mind could leave its body and possess a single hive mind of the Ood collectively or a single Human individually, though not more than one at one time. He had the power of telepathy and, through a host, telekinesis. Possession of a human subject affected the host's skin, causing strange markings to appear all over their face and body; and vocal chords, allowing them to speak with different pitches simultaneously. Whether a single human or a hive mind, the eyes of those possessed by the beast glowed a fiery red. The Beast could also project fire from his mouth. His hosts could also physically survive in a vacuum indefinitely. (DW: The Impossible Planet / The Satan Pit) The Doctor realized that the Beast, or the Devil, or Satan was "an idea in the minds of men", and not a physical form, and that is why it could manifest into others, and could survive indefinitely after the destruction of its body.

History

I have been imprisoned for an eternity; but no more. The pit is open; and I am free! The Beast. [The Impossible Planet [src]]

Though the exact circumstances are unknown, it is known that the Beast had been at battle with the Disciples of the Light, and confined to a pit in the centre of Krop Tor, a planet in orbit around K37 Gem 5, a black hole. If he ever tried to escape, the field holding the planet in orbit would break and the planet would be sucked into the black hole.

The Beast claimed to have existed before the Universe, a claim the Doctor found difficult to accept. He may have originated in the previous Universe.the reason he found it hard to believe was that nothing was supposed to survive the end of the universe

The Beast spread his influence throughout the cosmos. He claimed that the devils and demons that appear in various religions were based on him. (DW: The Impossible Planet / The Satan Pit) When Drew Blayney, leader of The Brimstone Skulls motorcycle club, was taken over by one of the ritual motorcycles, he drew upon the image of the Beast as one of his childhood fears. (TWM: Jetsam)

The Beast had a son known as Abaddon. (TW: End of Days)

Some also called the Beast itself Abbadon. Abaddon had a "nemesis" or "evil twin" known as Pwccm. It is unknown if Pwccm is also the son of the Beast. (TWN: The Twilight Streets)

The Beast possessed Toby Zed, a crew member of the Walker Expedition Sanctuary Base 6, via the text transcribed into the Krop Tor Notebook.

Through Zed, the Beast's first action was to kill Scooti Manista by breaking one of the windows (the Beast and those he possesses can survive in a total vacuum indefinitely). The Base's Ood were taken over. Upon the Ood's defeat, the Beast planned to escape by keeping his spirit in Toby's body, leaving his physical body behind. The Doctor deactivated the force holding Krop Tor in orbit.

The Beast's original body was destroyed when Krop Tor fell into K37 Gem 5 and his spirit is believed to have been destroyed when Toby's body was pulled into K37 Gem 5, although he claimed that he would never be truly destroyed. (DW: The Satan Pit)

Story Arc?

According to the Book of Revelation in the New Testament of the Bible, the number of The Beast is 666.

The Beast refers to itself at one point as "The Darkness" - a recurring theme through Doctor Who.

In Doctor Who

In The Christmas Invasion, The Doctor says 6 three times when arguing with Harriet Jones that he can bring her empire down with 6 words.

In The Impossible Planet, The Doctor says "6 to the power of 6, every 6 seconds."

In Voyage of the Damned, The Doctor begins shouting security protocols to The Host in order for them to reply, one of them is 'Security protocol 666'.

In Midnight, Jethro Cane says '666' to Sky Sylvestry, which she repeats.

In The Stolen Earth, Mr Smith says that the TARDIS has landed in 'Vector 7, grid reference 666'.

It has been announced that the Ood will appear in The Waters of Mars.

In Torchwood

In an episode of Torchwood, Jack is seen removing a tape from a VCR. The tape has a '6' on it, however, two more videos are seen above with two more '6's on them.

Abaddon, son of the beast, appears in End of Days.

Legions of the Beast

The Beast and his armies will rise from the pit to make war against God.The possessed Ood. [The Impossible Planet [src]]

The powerful mind of the Beast was able to take control of the Ood that accompanied the expedition at Krop Tor. This possession was highlighted when their eyes turned red and began quote the words of the Beast.
