The Doctor took an honorary doctoral degree at St Cedd's College in 1960 and was known to college porter Wilkin. Accounts differ as to whether it was in his fourth or eighth incarnation. (TV: Shada, WC: Shada)

Liz Shaw studied at Cambridge and later did research there before being invited to join UNIT in the 1970s. (TV: Spearhead from Space) She later returned to Cambridge before leaving in the 1990s to join P.R.O.B.E. (HOMEVID: The Zero Imperative)

At some point after their adventures with the First Doctor, Ian Chesterton and Barbara Wright became professors at Cambridge. They were still professors in 2010, and rumoured not to have aged since the 1960s. (TV: Death of the Doctor)

During the late 2010s, Adelaide Brooke went to Cambridge where she took her first honours in Physics and Mathematics. She went on to be the first woman to land on Mars. (TV: The Waters of Mars)

Though it's possible that a real world location doesn't exist in the same geographic space in the Doctor Who universe, such cases are few and far between. Thus, the map to the right is probably a good indicator of the DWU location of University of Cambridge.
