The Shadow of London was the fifth story in the seventh series of the Fourth Doctor Adventures, produced by Big Finish Productions. It was written by Justin Richards and featured Tom Baker as the Fourth Doctor and Louise Jameson as Leela.

Publisher's summary

The TARDIS materialises in the backstreets of London in the 1940s. Whilst K9 entertains himself in the time ship's library, the Doctor takes Leela for a walk in the streets.

But England's capital is oddly quiet. There are no cars and very few pedestrians... whilst those people they do meet appear really quite English indeed. And all the while they are monitored by cameras feeding images into a secret control room.

Something strange is happening in the city. Traitors are running wild... and nothing and no-one are quite as they seem.

Plot

Part One

The Doctor and Leela materialize in London, or so they think. After checking on K9, who is elsewhere in the ship, they step out of the TARDIS. They notice that there doesn't seem to be any signs of life or people. They are being observed through security cameras by Maddox. They meet two people who are acting strangely. The Doctor and Leela walk over to a park and meet Hemmings. He warns the Doctor and Leela not to go near "the Edge". Soon, they hear a scream and try to help. They enter a building but see that it is too late; the person is dead. They go into other buildings. Others have been killed, as well. The Doctor and Leela discuss that Hemmings might know more than he is letting on. The three meet Fanshaw, who is apparently a policeman. They are attacked by "the Creature". They split up to escape. The Doctor and Leela go to "the Edge", and see that the city is surrounded by mountains. They aren't really in London.
