The BBC One Christmas Film 2016, also known as the BBC One Christmas Advert 2016 was the Christmas 2016 BBC Christmas ident. This year's again featured Doctor Who, however its involvement was minimal. It showed a small child watching the Doctor Who episode Heaven Sent and hiding from it.

Synopsis

For the moments we share. A very Merry Christmas from BBC One.

Plot

It's Christmas, and people are celebrating it in their own ways. A marathon of people dressed up as Father Christmas, a group of friends playing around outdoors, a family hauling a Christmas tree, a girl snuggling up to her mum as they watch Heaven Sent, people hugging, a small child decorating a Christmas tree, a group of friends buying food, a couple kiss under mistletoe, a couple in a taxi, a group of friends partying, a couple hug on a bench during dusk...

Notes

Unlike 2015's ident, this ident featured no new Doctor Who footage, and was more comprised of glimpses into people's lives.
