Basement

A basement or cellar, also known as a sub-ground level (TV: Eve of the Daleks) was an underground area in a building.

Vicki, after leaving the First Doctor to live in ancient Troy with Troilus, kept a Phoenix cinder in a burning oil lamp in the basement of a temple.
