Heather McCrimmon
Heather McCrimmon was a companion of the Doctor.
Profile
Biography
Heather was, in her native time, a history student at Edinburgh University. She joined the Doctor so that she could experience historical events first-hand for her history essay. (DWAM: The Chromosome Connection)
It is suggested she is a descendant of Jamie McCrimmon, a companion of the Second Doctor.
Heather was later joined in her adventures with the Doctor by Wolfgang Ryter.
Heather is forced to depart the TARDIS and the Doctor in her final adventure Dead-Line. She returns back to Edinburgh university to meet her professor but is lead into a trap by the Mozhtratta, whom she first encountered in The Chromosome Connection.
Heather is so affected by the Monzrhatta's machine that if she take a single trip in the TARDIS she would be ripped apart by the time radiation that the TARDIS protects you from, she gives an emotional goodbye to the Doctor saying at least she is back at home.
In the years following her travels with the Doctor, Heather pursued a career in archaeology, and a freelance alien hunter by night like Wolfgang who she was reunited with four years after her travels with the Doctor ended. Both Heather and Wolfgang saw the Doctor one more time when he saved their lives and then departs, to check on Rose in 2005, and to face his regeneration. (DWAM: Lucky Heather)

Behind the scenes
Continuity
- The World Shapers in Doctor Who Magazine, which featured a much older Jamie McCrimmon had implied that he died before having any descendants.
- In the order of publication, Heather became the Doctor's companion after Donna Noble. Given statements made in the post-Journey's End era regarding the Doctor refusing to take on ongoing companions after Donna, Heather's presence either violates TV continuity, or take place at some earlier point in the Tenth Doctor's life, likely between DW: Voyage of the Damned and Partners in Crime.
- The Doctor only states that he was going to travel alone in "Planet of the Dead" and by that time he's lost both Heather, and Wolfgang, and possibly others, like Majenta Pryce, also, in the tenth Doctor's final comic strip in Doctor Who Adventures, Heather and Wolfgang mention it has been four years since Heather, and presumably Wolfgang, last saw The Doctor, and as he is about to face his regeneration we can place Heather and Wolgang's travels just after "Journey's End", but before "The Next Doctor" as all the specials, from "The Next Doctor" take place over 3/4 years, thus linking in Heather's statement, we can also link in the Doctor's statement about having "Lost companions" from "Planet of the Dead" and "The Next Doctor" As, at the time of "The Next Doctor" and "Planet of the Dead" both Heather, and Wolfgang, were both lost, to the Doctor as Wolfgang couldn't take travelling anymore and Heather couldn't travel with him as she was forced to stay on Earth because of jilted particles, that would result in her death if she travelled through time.
Creation
Heather was created by 10-year-old Joanne Hall in a competition sponsored by Doctor Who Adventures to create a new companion to appear in the magazine's comics.
