Captain Troy Tempest was in command of the Stingray.
During the Brazilian jungle crisis in March 2065, Tempest had orders to hunt down and destroy some strange underwater creatures if the World Security Council's belief that they were using the lake of San Juan as their Headquarters turned out to be true. (PROSE: Jungle Terror!) Later, Phones Sheridan was interviewed by Doug Brogan for TV 21 while he and Troy lay in wait in case another of the mysterious alien machines they were looking for should appear. (PROSE: Stingray Hunts Aliens)
In May 2065, Tempest discovered that Atlanta Shore had been kidnapped by one of Titan's undercover agents when he found the beach she was on deserted with signs of a struggle in the sand. He told a reporter that plans were being made to trace her. (PROSE: Atlanta Kidnapped!) When Tempest was awarded with a Valour Medal by the President, he was missing on active service after starting a search for Atlanta. Phones radioed Marineville to tell them that he was last seen heading for Titanica but had heard nothing since. (PROSE: Tempest Awarded V.M.) Phones later reported that he was continuing his search for Troy and Atlanta, after the Stingray became fully operational again after an attack (COMIC: The Amaryll Challenge) by a Titan Terror Fish, in a coral island area in Titan's territory. (PROSE: Stingray Searches)
In July 2065, in reference to the ongoing investigation at Tracking Station 17, Senator Jack Marasel of France accused "Shore and his boys" of "gaily galavanting around some island looking for ghosts". Senator Adrinnikof of Russia defended Stingray but the debate was ultimately adjourned until the next day. (PROSE: Civil War) Tempest went missing after investigating a ghostly galleon which had been sighted nearby the station. Commander Shore and Phones were said to be taking action. (PROSE: Bullion Train)
The Marineville Press Office once reported that contact had been lost between Tempest and the Marineville Control Tower. (COMIC: The Menace of the Monstrons)
