Shaun Temple

From Tardis Wiki, the free Doctor Who reference
Revision as of 09:40, 18 January 2024 by BananaClownMan (talk | contribs) (As a night worker myself, I can attest that Shaun was probably just working the evening shift, as he would not have gone home until the morning if he was also in nights. Also doing some tidying up, fixing some spelling errors and doing the standonised separation of originals and adaptation so as not to confuse readers on which is adaptational exclusive information)

Shaun Temple was Donna Noble's husband and Rose Noble's father.

Biography

Going out with Donna

Shaun in 2009. (TV: Journey's End [+]Loading...["Journey's End (TV story)"])

Shaun and Donna were engaged and living together, in a small flat, as they had very little income — Shaun was on minimum wage and Donna was earning "tuppence". He was unaware of Donna's life with the Tenth Doctor because Donna herself wasn't aware of it, (TV: The End of Time [+]Loading...["The End of Time (TV story)"]) as the Doctor had had to reset Donna's memories after her mind began overloading after she became the DoctorDonna. (TV: Journey's End [+]Loading...["Journey's End (TV story)"])

On Christmas Eve 2009, the Tenth Doctor saw Shaun and Donna shopping. The following day — Christmas Day — they went to the Nobles' house to give Wilfred and Sylvia their presents: Wilfred's gift was Joshua Naismith's Fighting the Future. Shaun was talking with Donna and Sylvia while Wilfred was trying to watch the Queen's speech. Later that day, when the Master walked into the Immortality Gate, he took over Shaun and turned him into another member of the Master Race. When Rassilon reversed the Master's transfer of genetic code, Shaun returned to normal along with the rest of the human race, before finding the now-unconscious Donna, bringing her to the Nobles' home. Donna and Shaun's wedding

Main article: Donna Noble and Shaun Temple's wedding

In the Spring of 2010, he married Donna. As he exited the church, he high fived a man, was kissed on the cheek by Wilf, before posing for a photograph with Donna and her friends. Wilf and Sylvia spoke to the Doctor, who was watching the wedding from afar, and he gave them an envelope containing a lottery ticket to give to Donna, to solve her and Shaun's financial issues. After Wilf and Sylvia gave the ticket to Donna, she hollered to Shaun to remind him that they were on a tight schedule as oxtail soup was being served at 02:30pm. Raising a family

Within the next few years, Shaun had a daughter, Rose. (PROSE: We Are Family [+]Loading...{"page":"34-35","1":"We Are Family (short story)"}) He also watched the Venom films, complaining to Donna about how characters seemed to gain extra mass when growing in size, questioning the science behind it. (TV: Wild Blue Yonder [+]Loading...["Wild Blue Yonder (TV story)"]) He also became a taxi driver after he and Donna moved into their new home. He was baffled that Donna donated the vast majority of her lottery winnings to charity. (TV: The Star Beast [+]Loading...["The Star Beast (TV story)"])

Meeting the Doctor

In November 2023, (PROSE: The Star Beast [+]Loading...["The Star Beast (novelisation)"]) Shaun was working a shift in his taxi cab when, after trying to get Rose's attention while she and Donna were out shopping, the Fourteenth Doctor leapt towards him and insisted he drive him to the site of a crashed spaceship, despute the road closers. While perplexed at his identity card claiming he was a woman, Shaun let him in regardless when he guaranteed he knew a route. During the drive, the Doctor let slip that he knew Donna and Shaun, after being told he knew her through Nerys, updated him on his and Donna's life since their wedding, and then let him off near Millson Wagner Steelworks.

When he returned home from work, Shaun discovered the Doctor was in his house, along with Donna, Rose, Sylvia and the Meep. Confused by the Doctor, Shaun listened as he communicated with the Meep while bandaging his paw. The Soldiers of the Psychedelic Sun and Wraith Warriors suddenly attacked the house, and Shaun fled upstairs to the attic with the others and crossed through the walls to escape the destruction in his taxi cab, though with the Doctor at the wheel. Shaun then witnessed the Doctor's trial between the Meep and the Wrarth Warriors, the former of whom soon captured them, having revealed he was evil after killing the Wrarth Warriors.

At the Steelworks, Shaun and his family were rescued by UNIT scientific advisor Shirley Bingham, but Donna insisted they separate, with Shaun getting Rose and Sylvia to safety while she went to help the Doctor. Soon after, Shaun watched as Rose's meta-crisis consciousness was released, enabling her to stop the Meep's Dagger Drive. Shaun commented that he felt the luckiest man alive to have both Rose and Donna in his life after they decided letting go of the meta-crisis. In the following morning, Shaun was taken to the Doctor's TARDIS with his family and gave Donna his blessing to take a trip to see Wilfred Mott, assuring her that he was not at all suspicious of her relationship with the Doctor. However, the TARDIS started going haywire and Shain, Rose and Sylvia could only watch in horror as it departed Camden Market. (TV: The Star Beast [+]Loading...["The Star Beast (TV story)"])

Friendship with the Doctor

Later, Shaun and the others went into hiding as the world appeared to fall into madness, (TV: Wild Blue Yonder [+]Loading...["Wild Blue Yonder (TV story)"]) caused by the Toymaker. After the Doctor and his successor defeated the entity, Shaun prepared a meal of a chicken dish, a vegan dish, poppadoms and cauliflower cheese for a garden party (TV: The Giggle [+]Loading...["The Giggle (TV story)"]) at the Doctor's home in the countryside. (PROSE: The Giggle [+]Loading...["The Giggle (novelisation)"])

Personality

According to Wilfred Mott, Shaun was "sweet enough", being a dreamer, (TV: The End of Time (part one) [+]Loading...{"part":"One","1":"The End of Time (TV story)"}) and a "kind man". (PROSE: We Are Family [+]Loading...{"page":"35","1":"We Are Family (short story)"})

Donna Noble thought of him as a nice and lovely man, who would keep going back to the place where she was last seen every single day in case she returned. (TV: Wild Blue Yonder [+]Loading...["Wild Blue Yonder (TV story)"]) He was also a family man, adoring both his wife and daughter. (TV: The Star Beast [+]Loading...["The Star Beast (TV story)"])
