Daryl Christofi was an amateur diver who ran a website, Daryl the Diver, in which he documented his most recent diving project involving the Elysium. He had an interest in Victoriana.

Biography[[edit] | [edit source]]

Daryl Christofi "started out" in the Merchant Navy, with his first diving experience being in the South China Seas. (PROSE: Daryl Christofi [+]Loading...["Daryl Christofi (feature)"]) He had many other dives after this. (PROSE: Enthusiastic Amateur Diver Shares His Discoveries With You! He later began work on a book about his experiences. (PROSE: Daryl Christofi [+]Loading...["Daryl Christofi (feature)"])

In the 2010s, Daryl obtained some of the salvage rights to the steam freighter Elysium, which had crashed (PROSE: Enthusiastic Amateur Diver Shares His Discoveries With You! [+]Loading...["Enthusiastic Amateur Diver Shares His Discoveries With You! (short story)"]) on 17 July 1888 due to either a storm or something to do with some sort of angelic statue. (PROSE: Pride of Mayfield Star Lines Beached in Devastating Storm [+]Loading...["Pride of Mayfield Star Lines Beached in Devastating Storm (short story)"]) His goal, after consulting the shipping logs, was to retrieve the £10000000 worth of gold ingots within the ship's cargo (PROSE: Enthusiastic Amateur Diver Shares His Discoveries With You! [+]Loading...["Enthusiastic Amateur Diver Shares His Discoveries With You! (short story)"]) to fund future diving projects. (PROSE: Daryl Christofi [+]Loading...["Daryl Christofi (feature)"])

At this time, Daryl began updating his website, Daryl the Diver, to document his efforts, but he was distracted by the dives themselves, leaving the site in a state of construction; his first few attempts to reach the sunken Elysium weren't successful, although he manage to eventually locate the ship, photograph it, and enter it, salvaging some artefacts including pottery. When Daryl eventually did post on his website about his progress, he apologised for the state of the website, providing a bit of the history of the ship, as well as revealing that he had loaned out the artefacts he had recovered to a touring exhibition about the Elysium. Daryl planned to return to the Elysium as soon as he had received new lights and scanning equipment. (PROSE: Enthusiastic Amateur Diver Shares His Discoveries With You! Daryl also revealed more personal information about himself on his website, such as his experience, current projects, and hopes; one such hope was that, if he could meet any one historical figure, he'd choose Isambard Kingdom Brunel, whom he referred to as "the Guvnor".
