Admiral Beatty Arrested was a short story printed in TV Century 21 that contained elements from the Doctor Who universe. Framed as the front page of an in-universe periodical, the titular article made reference to the Dateline 2066 content in the issue. This article mentioned Unity City, a location first introduced in The Daleks comic story Duel of the Daleks [+]Loading...["Duel of the Daleks (comic story)"].
Summary[[edit] | [edit source]]
At dawn, Universal Secret Service and World Senate special agents move in and arrest the World Navy Chief, Admiral Beatty, for spying. The news shocks Unity City, with many of his friends not believing it. Beatty's arrest is soon confirmed by a USS spokesman, however, who states that there is evidence the Admiral had been passing top secret information to the Bereznik Government. Later, at a special sitting of Unity City's magistrate court, lawyer Rur Bendin asks for a week's remand so the prosecution can be ready with its case.
Meanwhile, it is reported from Canada that Thunderbird 2 has arrived at the site of the forest fire danger zone. Piloted by Virgil Tracy, the ship descends out of the smoke-blackened sky to join Thunderbird 1 in its risky rescue attempt.
Elsewhere, Marineville's latest search and attack vessel, Sea Leopard, completes the first of her sea trials. However, it is suddenly attacked by mechanical flying fish, which deal substantial damage to the craft. Stingray immediately starts a search in an effort to locate the flying fish carrier. Upon hearing of the attack, the World Maritime Board inquire with the World Aquanaut Security Patrol as to whether the merchant vessel Florida, which disappeared the week prior, might have actually been sunk by the flying fish.
