A Ouija board was an object supposedly used to contact the dead.

According to P.R.O.B.E. director Giles, they were mostly used by drunk university student at parties, but, if misused, could "easily" open portals to the Dark Dimensions, summoning much more dangerous entities than the souls of loved ones the callers sought to contact. As a child, Tim Leicester and some of his friends used one. It scared his friend so much he ran out into the street and was hit by a car and killed. As an adult, Tim once again participated in using a ouija board with some friends from work. In 2018, Steven Nelson purchased an old-looking Ouija board from a novelty shop and attempted to contact the soul of his recently-deceased mother, Rachel Nelson, which he kept a secret from his father and Rachel's widower, Garry. The ritual failed, but opened a portal to the Dark Dimensions in the basement of the Nelson house, causing it to become haunted by a malevolent ghost subsequently dubbed "the Peckham Poltergeist" by P.R.O.B.E., who uncovered what had happened and helped the Nelsons banish the Poltergeist and close the portal.
