Charles II (29 May 16306 February 1685) was the King of England from 1660 to 1685.

Biography

The eldest son of King Charles I, who had been executed by the Roundheads on 30 January 1649, Charles became the king in 1660 after Parliament invited him to take the throne of England. (PDA: The Roundheads)

Charles, himself a Protestant, blamed the English Catholics for the Great Fire of London in September 1666. (CC: The Glorious Revolution) In actuality, it was started when a Terileptil weapon overloaded in a building on Pudding Lane. The Fifth Doctor played a major role in causing the fire. (DW: The Visitation)

The Sixth Doctor claimed to have met Charles II. (PDA: Players)

The Eleventh Doctor also met Charles II, though against his will. He was being painted naked by a woman and attempted to flee the king, but was apprehended. He was later imprisoned in the Tower of London but escaped with a "magical sphere." (DW: The Impossible Astronaut)

Upon his death in 1685, he was succeeded by his younger brother James II, who was overthrown by the Glorious Revolution in November 1688. (CC: The Glorious Revolution)
