Manchester was a city in England.
History
The Sixth Doctor visited the Mancunian borough of Salford several times. In 1965 he was there with Mel for a brief, second encounter with the Wishing Beast. (AUDIO: The Vanity Box)

Behind the scenes
- Producer Phil Collinson left Doctor Who in 2008 to become Head of Drama at BBC Manchester.
- A good many behind the scenes figures — like John Simm, Piers Wenger and Beth Willis —have ties to the Life on Mars franchise, which is set in Manchester, and may have partially inspired the character of D.I. Menzies.
