Listen (TV story)
Listen was the fourth episode of the eighth series of Doctor Who produced by BBC Wales.
Synopsis
After the Doctor has traveled alone for a time he stars having theories about creatures that are perfect in hiding. He thinks that they are always around, listening, and that nobody is truly alone, ever. To prove he's right he picks up Clara after her ruined date with Danny Pink and asks her if she ever had a very specific dream which in his opinion everybody has. Using Clara's timeline connected telepathically to the TARDIS he tries to trace that dream in order to spot the hiding creature. But a small distraction causes Clara to think of somebody else and they venture into another timeline. The search of the truth behind the fear leads the Doctor to the end of everything and to the very beginning - his own beginning...

The Doctor

- Clara has affected the Doctor's timeline since his childhood.
- The Doctor's parents are seen (though partially) for a first time.
- The Twelfth Doctor, upon coming to in the TARDIS as Clara discovers his younger self, mentions 'Sontarans perverting the course of human history' to Orson Pink, presumably waking from a dream.
Individuals
- Clara says she'd never been to Gloucester.
Story notes
- Clara's encounter with the Doctor as a young boy marks the second time a version of her has met his original incarnation, and the first from his perspective. One of her splinters created after she entered the Doctor's time stream had met the older First Doctor, suggesting which TARDIS to steal as he escaped Gallifrey. (TV: The Name of the Doctor)
