The Eight Truths (audio story)
The Eight Truths was the seventh story in the third series of the Eighth Doctor Adventures, produced by Big Finish Productions. It was written by Eddie Robson and featured Paul McGann as the Eighth Doctor and Sheridan Smith as Lucie Miller.
This is the first story to feature the Eight Legs since the 1999 short story Return of the Spiders. They were first introduced in Jon Pertwee's last Doctor Who television story Planet of the Spiders broadcast in 1974.
Publisher's summary
London, 2015. The Doctor's looking for a lost space probe. Lucie Miller's feeling just plain lost, on a world she no longer quite belongs to.
Perhaps there's someone who can help. A chance encounter with an old sparring partner leads Lucie to the Eightfold Truth — a bunch of crystal-bearing cranks who reckon a rebel sun is on its way to purge the Earth. As if!
But what if they're right?
The apocalypse is upon us. As humankind counts down the last days of its existence, the Doctor races to unmask the Eightfold Truth — and uncovers an old and deadly enemy.

Notes
- Although the story description and the textless cover art give a date of 2015, the newspaper on the finished cover has the date 9 November 2012.
- The story begins on 21 October 2015. This is the same future date to which Marty McFly and Doc Brown travelled in the 1989 film Back to the Future Part II.
- This audio drama was recorded on 25 September and 23 October 2008 at The Moat Studios.
- The story was initially released as a download on the Big Finish website on 30 May and 6 June 2009.
- Goodman mentions buying the BBC Television Centre "three years ago". In the real world, the BBC vacated the building as their headquarters in 2012 and it has since been used for commercial and residential purposes (though television production resumed again in 2017).
