- While intended solely as a homage to the then recently passed Deborah Watling, Mrs V. M. McCrimmon could be interpreted in this story and PROSE: Postscript to be the resurrected Victoria Waterfield, married to Jamie McCrimmon. Victoria is said to have the middle name "Maud" in PROSE: The Age of Ambition.
- In the real world, Florence Briscoe was an obscure 20th century British artist who illustrated the original Thomas Carnacki stories in The Idler. Author James Bojaciuk previously researched Briscoe and wrote an article on her life for greydogtales.com. [1]
