Story notes

  • Despite being filmed in 2019, Praxeus has Doctor Who fans speculating if the bacteria in the story, known by the same name, is actually a reference to the real world Coronavirus, only discovered in 2020, the year of the story's broadcast.[1]
  • The Doctor's opening monologue places Praxeus as taking place "early in the third decade of the 21st century."
  • This story marked the first televised Doctor Who appearance of a Brazilian character (Gabriela Camara, who speaks Portuguese and is seen wearing an official Brasil CBF shirt), and the first television role given to a Brazilian actress, Gabriela Toloi. Gabriela Camara was not played by Toloi, however; a Portuguese actor, Joana Borja, was cast instead.
