The eighteenth season of Doctor Who ran between 30th August 1980 and 21st March 1981. From Full Circle onwards, the season featured a story arc involving E-Space and the return of the Master. It was the last season to feature Tom Baker as the Fourth Doctor; it also saw the departure of Romana and K-9. It was the first season produced by John Nathan-Turner, who instituted a number of changes: the stories became darker and more adult in tone, the 1966 Delia Derbyshire arrangement of the "Doctor Who theme" was retired in favour of a new arrangement, and a new series logo was introduced. It consisted of 7 stories and 28 episodes. It was the last season of the original series to have a fall-to-spring broadcast schedule and the last to have a fall start until Season 23. After this season, the number of episodes per season began decreasing.
