Nu-Who Viewing Order

Rules of the Viewing Order:

  • This is not a timeline. It's a viewing order to help the viewer navigate their way through Doctor Who and its spin-offs, whilst ensuring the journey doesn't get tiring or boring. For that reason, where possible, the series alternate and intertwine before meeting where they should be.
  • There will be no spoilers or explanations in this viewing order just in case someone wants to genuinely use it.
  • Everything is categorised into years. For example, year one works with series one of Doctor Who. There is also a year zero to allow for prequel series that take place in that time period pre-Aliens of London. You'll see what I mean.
  • Codes will be used, such as DW for Doctor Who, TW for Torchwood and so on. You'll get used to it, and forgive me if I forget to implement it from time to time. Feel free to remind me in my talkpage.
  • This has been made so that you can pick and choose whatever parts of the universe you wish (which series you wish to watch/listen to/read).

Year Zero

Year One

Important character backstory.
More character backstory. If you prefer mystery, save for later. Perhaps better for second viewing.

Year Two

This is the comic story, not the television story.
This is the Sarah Jane audio, not the Doctor Who television episode.

Year Three

  • The main storyline of The Story of Martha takes place between The Sound of Drums and The Last of the Time Lords. While it isn't vital reading, it will give you more insight into this finale.

Year Four

Direct sequel of Sleeper.

Year Four continued

  • There is a scene during R&J that takes place directly after this story. However, it is recommended that this is not listened to until much later on.

Year Five

  • This is the TV story starring the 11th Doctor and not the 10th Doctor comic.

Year Six
