One incarnation of the Time Lord Andredaselus (Andred for short) was Commander of the Chancellery Guard. Prior to his regeneration, he married Leela and became castellan.

Biography

Early life

Andred became Commander of the Chancellery Guard. (TV: The Invasion of Time) He did not care for Spandrell's successor as Castellan, Kelner, and ensured that his duties kept him away from his desk at the Castellan's suite of offices so as to avoid him. (PROSE: Doctor Who and the Invasion of Time)

During the Vardan invasion

This section's awfully stubby.

Please help by adding some more information.

He organised the Time Lords opposed to the Fourth Doctor's presidency after he had helped the Vardans invade. He attempted to kill him as a traitor but later aided him once his true intentions became apparent. Leela fell in love with Andred and stayed on Gallifrey with him, accompanied by K9 Mark I. (TV: The Invasion of Time)

Life with Leela

Most accounts agreed that Andred was eventually made Castellan. (PROSE: Lungbarrow, AUDIO: Pandora)

At some point, he and Leela got married. (TV: Arc of Infinity) Some accounts also stated that Leela then became pregnant by him, (PROSE: Lungbarrow, Jealous, Possessive) while several others contradicted this. (AUDIO: Weapon of Choice, Insurgency, etc.) During the pregnancy, K9 Mark I told Mark II (who was still trapped in E-Space with Mistress Romana) that he thought Andred was unhappy due to this, and had been "going around disconsolately, muttering, and shaking his head". (PROSE: Jealous, Possessive)

Following an incident in the Death Zone, Andred led a clean up with K9 Mark I in order to dispose of what creatures remained there. (AUDIO: Time in Office)

Andred taught Leela how to operate a staser. (AUDIO: Extermination)

Death

After spending many years with Leela, Andred became suspicious of certain activities by the Celestial Intervention Agency, and in particular suspected Coordinator Narvin of violent anti-Alien tendencies, in contradiction to President Romana's new policies. He made attempted overtures towards Narvin, claiming that his wife Leela had shown him the incompatibility of off-worlders living on Gallifrey. Narvin easily saw through Andred's ruse, and when Andred invited Narvin to meet him in the Citadel catacombs, he guessed that Andred might try to assassinate him. He sent his most trusted agent, Commander Torvald, in his place. In the confrontation, Andred and Torvald shot each other. Torvald was killed outright, while Andred was able to regenerate into his next incarnation. (AUDIO: A Blind Eye)

Appearance

Andred was a "handsome young Time Lord". (PROSE: Doctor Who and the Invasion of Time)

Personality

Andred saw himself as a soldier and felt that it was his duty to serve the ruler of Gallifrey, going so far as to touch the butt of his staser as a threat when Kelner insulted and disobeyed the President-elect. He was attracted to Leela due to her being more "vital and alive" than the Time Ladies of the Capitol. (PROSE: Doctor Who and the Invasion of Time)

Behind the scenes

At the end of Lungbarrow, the Seventh Doctor learns that Leela is carrying Andred's child. Noting that half-human, half-Gallifreyan is an "unusual pedigree", the Doctor tells her to "just call him after me". The implication is that the child will eventually travel back in time and become the Other, who ultimately dissolves himself in the Loom network to be reborn as the Doctor. Marc Platt later confirmed this: "I don't know whether anybody picked up on that little hint that this is actually a time loop! ... Yup! I'm very naughty! Leela and Andred are ... Oh, dear! Perhaps I shouldn't have mentioned it? The implications are far too horrific to contemplate!" (DWM 305)
