It saw the Daleks destroying the Martian city of Marventos as well as creating Robomen. The Martian government held on long enough for the Minister of Space Defence, Zavarim L., to issue a "Dalek Defence Drill" poster advising his citizens on how to best survive. While being interrogated by Davros in an agony seat, the Fourth Doctor recounted that on Mars, the Daleks were defeated by a virus that attacked the insulation on the cables in their electrical systems. (TV: Genesis of the Daleks) According to one historical account, this invasion was part of the conflict following the Time Destructor Incident of 4000, contemporary to the Dalek invasion of Venus. Behind the scenes
- According to non-narrative information in DWBIT 49, the Daleks invaded Mars while on their way to Earth. Colonists fought back and, with the help of the Ice Warriors, created a virus which ate away at Dalek cable insulation. The Dalek forces were driven away from the colony and decided just to focus on the Earth.
