On 16 October, the following important behind-the-scenes events were known to have occurred:

• 1963 - Donald Baverstock ordered thirteen episodes of Doctor Who, after being satisfied with the promise of the so-called "pilot episode". At the same time he ordered John Mair to give him hard numbers about the cost of the series' special effects. When those numbers proved shockingly high just a few days later, a mini-crisis briefly threatened to shut down the show.
• 1964 - "The Waking Ally" was recorded at Riverside Studios 1. (INFO: The Daleks Invasion of Earth)

• 1972 - Studio filming for Frontier in Space took place at BBC Television Centre studio 4. (REF: Doctor Who The Handbook: The Third Doctor)
• 1973 - Studio filming for Invasion of the Dinosaurs took place at BBC Television Centre studio 6. (REF: Doctor Who The Handbook: The Third Doctor)
• 2004 - Magic Bullet Productions' The True History of Faction Paradox audio story Coming to Dust was recorded at the Moat Studios.
• 2009 - The Big Finish audio story The Wreck of the Titan was recorded at the Moat Studios.
• 2012 - The fifth series of Big Finish's Doctor Who spin-off Gallifrey was recorded at the Moat Studios.
• 2013 - The Big Finish audio story The Sontarans was recorded at the Moat Studios.
• 2017 - Recording for The Third Doctor Adventures: Volume Four took place.
• 2018 - Recording for The Sixth Doctor and Peri: Volume One took place at the Moat Studios.
• 2018 - Big Finish's audio anthology The Third Doctor Adventures: Volume Five was recorded at WiseBuddah.
• 2020 - The fourteenth series of Big Finish's audio series Jago & Litefoot was recorded.
• 2020 - Big Finish announced the second series of Lady Christina.
