Early career

Dame Lydia was Winifred Bambera's old sponsor. (AUDIO: Rogue State) She oversaw the inquiry into the Titania disaster, during which neither the head of UNIT-UK nor Torchwood found anything unusual. (AUDIO: Dark Side of the Moon)

Bambera's UNIT

Info from The Last Line of Defence needs to be added

In 1998, Dame Lydia offered her the role of head of UNIT-UK. When she declined, she instead tasked her with taking over security for the Chuchuna, which were being moved from Vladivostok to England, although she did not initially tell her the truth about the cargo. Upon completion of the mission, Bambera accepted Dame Lydia's offer on the condition that Jean-Paul Savarin serve as her second-in-command. (AUDIO: Rogue State)

Bambera met with Dame Lydia to discuss the Titania and sent Louise Rix to the British Space Programme's Space Control. Dr Megan Hollands later asked Dame Lydia to remove UNIT due to their alleged incompetence, but relented after she offered no replacement. When the matter at hand was dealt with, Dame Lydia agreed to look into whoever had contacted Bambera and told her that the Grey Men were coming. (AUDIO: Dark Side of the Moon)

Personality

Dame Lydia believed that the Swiss overdid the simple things and preferred a cheaper alternative to their chocolate. (AUDIO: Rogue State)
