Tartan

Tartan, also called plaid, was a type of pattern, famously linked to Scotland. ^{[source needed]}

The Third Doctor wore inverness capes of tartan; one done on scarlet and emerald during his first visit to Peladon, (TV: The Curse of Peladon) and one in brown when he survived the Game of Rassilon who he blamed wrongly and arrogantly on the Tremas Master until he learned he'd been tricked and used by Borusa. (TV: The Five Doctors)

The Fourth Doctor wore a Clan Wallace tartan scarf when he first meets Zygons and a Skarasan during the Zygon Gambit. (TV: Terror of the Zygons) He also wore an inverness cape of tan and scarlet tartan when he met Magnus Greel in London during 1892. (TV: The Talons of Weng-Chiang)

The Seventh Doctor spent his first hours in the Sixth Doctor's frock coat with tartan before switching for a silver grey safari jacket. His first scarf was made of crimson and black tartan before it got destroyed. (TV: Time and the Rani) He also wore plaid trousers done in grey brown, (TV: Time and the Rani) or Pride of Scotland. The Fourteenth Doctor wore a single-breasted waistcoat and trousers of dark maroon and turquoise tartan with a notched collar, (TV: The Power of the Doctor-The Giggle) which he replaced with some in plum and black. (COMIC: Liberation of the Daleks)

Sarah Jane Smith wore a sweater vest of brown tartan during her first adventures with the Third Doctor. (TV: The Time Warrior, Invasion of the Dinosaurs)

Clara Oswald wore a Clan Campbell tartan dress when she sacrificed herself to save the Eleventh Doctor from the Great Intelligence's master plan. (TV: The Name of the Doctor) She also wore a Clan Wallace tartan skirt with her black cardigan and her white blouse, (TV: The Time of the Doctor, Deep Breath) and a crimson and navy tartan shirt. Jo Grant wore a shirt of maroon and alabaster when she first met Mark IV Daleks including a gold leader as well as their Controller and Ogrons during the Time Paradox Incident; (TV: Day of the Daleks) and when helping many versions of the Doctor and companions. (GAME: Lost in Time) She also wore an asymmetrical jacket of chestnut and scarlet tartan when she helped to foil more including a Supreme from the Dalek Council during the Spiridon Incident. The Master's war incarnation wore a chocolate and ebony tartan ulster coat during his encounter with Sherlock Holmes, John Watson, and James Moriarty in the Land of Fiction.
