The Blood Honeys were a famous Irish pop band. Founded in November 1996 with original members Aoife, Bríd, Cara, Marie, and Sam, the group became one of the biggest acts on Earth. The band members stayed fans through eleven breakups.

The Blood Honeys' official origin had it that the five members came together spontaneously at the Tripod nightclub in Dublin after being separately rejected from a musical competition being held in the city, having never met each other before. In truth, the event had been carefully orchestrated by manager Henry McMillan, who was desperate to boost his career by launching another hit artist. The band's five members had been chosen and training for some time prior.

Donna Noble became a huge fan of the Blood Honeys, following them through their ups and downs. Having missed out on the Blood Honeys' first concert on 16 November 1996 despite having been in Dublin at the time, Donna asked the Tenth Doctor to take her there. Upon arriving at Tripod, they discovered that three psirens, exiled Daughters of Khizerax from a space-faring Empire, were attempting to use the girls to conquer the planet.

The Doctor and Donna stopped the plot. Donna was privately saddened to discover the band's formation was not as spontaneous as she had thought, but she encouraged the girls to continue their music career. (PROSE: Wannabes [+]Loading...["Wannabes (novel)"])
