Bertram was a brief companion of Missy.
Missy took him when he was a young boy from a battle she caused. She threatened to kill him if she did not become her companion. They visited the Black Archive and stole several artefacts. He was concerned with her activities. Eventually she became bored with Bertram and killed him. (AUDIO: The Lumiat)
