Christmas Needle Agreement

The Christmas Needle Agreement was an agreement signed at the Needle between the Totality and the alien multiversal cluster known as the 10,000 Dawns.

History

Background

The actions of Auteur using a gauntlet stolen from her people gave rise to the treaty. (PROSE: White Canvas)

Early on during the war, Auteur, working with her future associates (PROSE: White Canvas) of Faction Paradox, (PROSE: A Bloody (And Public) Domaine) creating a number of portals between her universe and the 10,000 Dawns, then tricked the Original Mammoths into believing that Graelyn Scythes and the Firmament, of the 10,000 Dawns, would be the end of them. The mammoth Taranis sent an army of painted warriors through the rifts and abducted more or less the entire population of the Dawns out of time, freezing them in a single moment.

Auteur then made her way to the Mammoths' alter-time realm and used a gauntlet stolen from their foes. She intended to then merge the ten thousand fictional realities under her control into one incredibly resilient "alternate history" which she could impose over her own universe, overwriting the war out of existence. Her plan was halted by Graelyn Scythes, who eventually managed to reverse everything she'd done, though not before the 10,000 Dawns elements spent seventeen subjective years as fiction from Auteur and Graelyn's perspective within Auteur's Town in the White Canvas, and the universe of Auteur and the war was briefly fictionalised. The Agreement

On the day following the unmaking of Auteur's Town, which was Christmas Day from Dawn's perspective, powers from the warring universe and the 10,000 Dawns gathered at the Needle to negotiate an agreement ensuring no unprovoked attack between the two multiversal territories would happen again. The Needle was chosen because its ruler, Empress Miranda Dawkins, was Supreme Ruler of the Universe in her own era and thus a prime signatory to the treaty, but also insofar as it was a kind of neutral ground because (PROSE: White Canvas) the Empire of the Needle existed after the end of the War in Heaven, in a new, post-War version of reality where the Time Lords and the Enemy no longer meaningfully existed. Powers from the 10,000 Dawns at the negotiations included Graelyn Scythes, Archimedes Von Ahnerabe and Kinan Jans of Dawn; a member of the Knights of Sky; a group of Firmament; ambassadors of the Great Assimilation; and Lady Aesculapius, apparently representing herself. Meanwhile, from the universe of the war, attendees included Sergeant-Instructor Littlejohn (PROSE: White Canvas) of the Great Houses, (PROSE: Subjective Interlock, The Short Briefing Sergeant's Tale) whose Enemy was also present in the form of (PROSE: Cobweb and Ivory) a "delegation" of Original Mammoths led by Taranis; Ambassador Galaxy Violet of the Quoth, (PROSE: White Canvas) a subatomic species connected to humanity's psychic powers who had once been assisted by the Seventh Doctor in finding a new home after the destruction of a Time Lord N-Form destroyed their original homeworld; (PROSE: The Death of Art, Damaged Goods) a member of the Vo'lach, (PROSE: White Canvas) an advanced ancient species whose extinction in 10,000,000 B.C. was the subject of an iterated ontological paradox until it was resolved by David Foreman and a Watchmaker; (PROSE: Ghost Devices) Gideon (PROSE: White Canvas) of Faction Paradox; (PROSE: A Bloody (And Public) Domaine) and a delegation of Bookkeepers of the Plume Coteries, which included Coloth. Empress Miranda Dawkins herself, who presided over the negotiations, was also a signatory to the final treaty. (PROSE: White Canvas)

After being finalised in the form of a book which was "nearly a foot thick", (PROSE: A Worthy Successor) the Agreement was duly signed, and a banquet ensued. In the midst of the ensuing ceremony, Miranda also offered the Hollow Childe and Citizen 176, who had grown up in Auteur's Town and thus had nowhere to go back to, a new place on the Needle itself, which they gladly accepted, though promising to stay in touch with Graelyn Scythes, who returned to the 10,000 Dawns. Breach

Chris Cwej learned about the Christmas Needle Agreement when he asked a Superior computer for information about the 10,000 Dawns. The Firmament had allegedly broken the Agreement, hence the Superiors sending Cwej as an agent to retaliate. (PROSE: A Bright White Crack)

Legacy

In the post-War universe, the Vault held a copy of the Christmas Needle Agreement by 2011. Giles briefly inspected the book when he visited, noting its thickness and correctly suspecting it was "some sort of interuniversal treaty". (PROSE: A Worthy Successor)
