Seam bowling was a bowling style within the sport of cricket. In the friendly between the Doctor's Invitation Eleven and the Cheldon Bonniface Invitation Eleven, Peter Hutchings was a practitioner of this approach. Though Happy Endings doesn't make it explicit, the name gives a good enough indication of the fact that seam bowling involves bowling so that the ball hits the pitch on its seam, which hopefully makes the ball bounce in a way that is more difficult for the batsman to hit.
