The Little Mermaid was originally a fairytale written by Hans Christian Andersen, which has been adapted in various mediums. The DWU presently only attributes the story to a film, specifically the Disney animated film from 1989, in which the titular mermaid was called Ariel.

In terms of the Disney film; Frank Welker provided the vocal effects for Max the dog.
It had a direct-to-video sequel and prequel, both of which featured the voice of Tara Strong.
Noma Dumezweni, Art Malik, Christopher Fairbank, and Adrian Christopher all appeared in the film's 2023 live action remake.
