The Lost was the third and final story in the audio anthology Dalek Universe 2, produced by Big Finish Productions. It was written by Robert Valentine and featured David Tennant as the Tenth Doctor and Jane Slavin as Anya Kingdom.

When the Doctor's latest scheme to get back to the future fails, the team's ship crashes on a strange world, potentially trapping them for ever.

Searching for replacement parts, they find their way to a building where heart-breakingly familiar faces await them.

Lies are about to be exposed. Everyone will learn the truth. And nothing will be the same again.

'The Lost' begins with a scene of the titular character being thrown into the Realm of the Lost. Then, it goes to Anya and the Doctor trying to pilot their crashing ship. The Doctor suggests they skim the Gruad Contusion to gain extra speed, however they manage to "punch through" and end up in the Realm of the Lost, a place they describe to be so beautiful they briefly believe they're dead.

The Doctor and Anya set out across the planet to find spare parts to fix their ship, as the pocket universe is becoming unstable due to their entrance. During their travels, they discuss the death of Mark Seven, and the guilt they both feel for it. Eventually, they come across a palace. The Doctor investigates inside, and Anya investigates outside in the gardens. The Doctor finds someone who appears to be Mark, but is actually the Lost, and Anya finds the Lost in the form of the Doctor. Both of them tell the Lost about his pocket universe collapsing. The Lost says that there is a way out of the pocket universe, but it only takes one person, with the Lost riding with them.

Soon, the Doctor and Anya meet back up, but the Lost separates them, and talks to them individually about leaving the other behind and escaping from the pocket universe. He taunts the Doctor about the deaths and loss of Ann Kelso, Bret and Sara, Katarina, Oliver Harper, Adric, Lucie Miller, Rose Tyler, Donna Noble, and the planet Gallifrey. The Lost tells Anya about the Doctor's involvement in Bret and Sara's deaths.

After their individual conversations with the Lost, the Doctor insists that Anya leaves, and Anya decides that the most important thing is preventing the Lost from reaching the Universe, sacrificing herself to stop him. It doesn't work, however, and the Lost tells the Doctor that now that Anya's dead, he should have no qualms about leaving the pocket universe with the Lost. The Doctor decides instead that Anya was right, and leaves the pocket universe alone, letting it collapse and kill the Lost, and sending him back before the Doctor and Anya decided to skim the Gruad Contusion in the first place.

The Doctor helps them repair the ship, and dies helping them. The Doctor and Anya vaguely recall the time their alternative future versions spent in the Realm of the Lost.
