100 Thunderbird Rocket Guns To Be Won was a 21 competition printed in TV Century 21. Although the prize was unrelated to the Doctor Who universe, it was hosted by Kapbeta, an Astran from the planet Astra. Astra was first mentioned in the Doctor Who television story The Rescue while the Astrans had been introduced in The Daleks comic story Duel of the Daleks.
The competition was started in TV21 72 where the rules and prizes were outlined. For a chance of winning, using a map of Kapland which Kapbeta had drawn, readers had to start at one of the entrances and find their way through to the Kaplan's office, marking their route in a coloured ink or pencil. The closing date was 12 June 1966. It was stated that the entries would then be put together with the entrants of the first hundred correct solutions selected at random being declared the winners. The winners were rewarded with a Thunderbird Rocket Gun each. It does not appear as if the names of the winners or the correct solutions were ever printed in the magazine.
The announcement of the competition in TV21 72 was also accompanied with a short biography of Kapbeta, detailing his birth in Kopaka, his radio transference education and his tenures in joint service with the Universal Secret Service, as military attache in Washington, and as the head of security for the Astran Secret Service.
